George Donnelly Sunset League Updates – Hall of Fame Voting, Opening Day, Registration for 2022 Season
The George Donnelly Sunset League is an 18+ Amateur Summer Baseball League based in Newport and has been a Rhode Island baseball tradition for over 100 years and counting. Current collegiate baseball players as well as many post-collegiate amateur baseball players head to Cardines Field every summer to compete in the GDSL, under the lights in front of family and friends from roughly mid May until mid August. It is a wooden bat summer baseball league with tons of talent on display every single game!!! Here are some important calendar events I recently found on the official website of the George Donnelly Sunset League:

- Opening Day – May 15th
- Hall of Fame Class of 2022 Announced – July 4th
- Playoffs Begin – August 10th
- ASG (All Star Game) vs FDNY – August 21st
If you are interested in playing in the George Donnelly Sunset League this summer, there is a player questionnaire on their website. Here is the link – GDSL – and you just need to click on the photo to be redirected to the player questionnaire. Good luck to all the players already in the league and those looking to try out this summer for the prestigious George Donnelly Sunset League.

The RIBBE is The Rhode Island Baseball Experience. It is promoting the game of baseball here in the great state of Rhode Island for the entire baseball world to see. The RIBBE is positive stories, photos, videos, and responsible social media posts. The RIBBE is an information resource for families looking for an AAU team or a summer camp or a great place to buy a first baseman’s mitt. The RIBBE is a network of coaches, tournament directors, parents, leagues, and baseball junkies whose passion of the game of baseball is unquestioned. I believe that providing expert analysis, information and directions to ballfields, and coaching advice from some of the top RI baseball minds will help promote the game of baseball here in RI to a whole new level.
