The 2021 Rhode Island Little League District All Star Season is about to begin. RI leagues are finishing up Spring games, selecting players and managers, ordering uniforms and hats, and preparing for an exciting All Star season. I spoke to Bev Kenney, Rhode Island Little League District 3 Commissioner, about the upcoming summer tournaments this week. Bev manages a fantastic website for information regarding District 3’s teams, tournaments, and brackets. And she has a webpage dedicated to the State Tournaments as well. Here is what I found out, via Bev’s website – Rhode Island District 3 LL:
The 10U State Tournament will be hosted by District 2’s Darlington American Little League. The games will be played at Pawtucket’s Slater Park, which is a fantastic recreational facility and houses several baseball and softball fields from Tee Ball to the “Big Field.” The 10U State Tournament is scheduled for July 24th to July 31st.
The 11U State Tournament will be hosted by Westerly National Little League. The games will be played at the amazing fields of Trombino Sports Complex in Westerly, which has tons of parking, fields “Big” and Little League size, and a great concession stand and picnic area. The 11U States are scheduled for July 24th to July 29th.
The 12U State Tournament will be hosted by Cumberland Youth Baseball and Softball League. The games will be played at Garvin Memorial Field located at 1364 Diamond Hill Rd, Cumberland, RI 02864 which is directly behind the school and across the street from the Cumberland Public Safety Complex. I visited Garvin a few years back on my “Trek Around RI Baseball Fields” and it is an incredible baseball field. The 12U States are scheduled for July 24th to July 31st. One additional piece of information – the winner of the 2021 Rhode Island 12U State Tournament will advance to the New England Regionals which are held in Bristol, CT.
The Junior Division State Tournament will be hosted by Cranston East Little League. I have an email out to Cranston East to find out which field they will be hosting the tournament at. My guess is Cranston Stadium or Fay Field but I will confirm with Cranston East on this. The Juniors Tournament is scheduled for July 20 to July 26th.
The Senior Division State Tournament will be hosted by Pineview/Darlington. I have an email out to both leagues to find out which field they will be hosting the tournament at. My guess is they will use the “Big Field” at Slater Park or Daggett Field at Doreen Tomlinson Complex, which are both in Pawtucket. The Senior Tournament is scheduled for July 10 to July 18.
As more information and games and scheduled dates become available, I will post as soon as I can. Also, I will be posting the tournament brackets, filled in by and courtesy of Bev and her team, on my social media pages throughout the tournaments. It is a very exciting time of year for Rhode Island youth baseball and I am so excited for the players, coaches, leagues, fans, and families to experience this very memorable time in their baseball lives.
