2021 Rhode Island High School Varsity Baseball Tournament Time Is Fast Approaching

The 2021 Rhode Island Interscholastic League’s (RIIL) Spring Baseball Season is finishing up this week and weekend. The 2021 State Tournament Season is about to begin for the three divisions of Rhode Island High School baseball – Divisions 1, 2, and 3. All of the information for brackets, seedings, preliminary game locations, and scheduled start times can be found on the RIIL’s website at www.riil.org. Here is what I found out about this year’s tournament, so far.

The Rhode Island High School Baseball Division 1 State Tournament will feature 16 teams. Based on the brackets on the tournament webpage, teams are ranked from 1 to 4 in each of their subdivisions (A, B, C, D) of Division 1. The #1 teams in each subdivision will play the #4 teams and the #2 teams will play the #3 teams. The brackets are set up for as a single elimination tournament for the opening rounds until the finals. In years passed, the finals has been a best of 3 series and I’m not sure if that will be the case again this season. The Division 1 State Tournament is set to begin opening round games on June 13th with the finals finishing up June 24 to June 27th. Here is a look at how the brackets shape up for Division 1, courtesy of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League’s webpage:

The State Finals (Division 1 and 2) will be played at Rhode Island College’s Pontarelli Field.

The Rhode Island High School Baseball Division 2 State Tournament will feature 16 teams. Based on the brackets on the tournament webpage, teams are ranked from 1 to 4 in each of their subdivisions (A, B, C, D) of Division 2. The Division 2 State Tournament is set to begin opening round games on June 13th with the finals finishing up June 25 to June 27th. Like the Division 1 State Finals, the Division 2 State Finals will also be held at Rhode Island College’s Pontarelli Field. Here is a look at how the brackets shape up for Division 2, courtesy of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League’s webpage:

The Rhode Island High School Baseball Division 3 State Tournament will feature 8 teams. Based on the brackets on the tournament webpage, teams are ranked from 1 to 8 based on their regular season record. The #1 team plays #8, #2 plays #7, #3 plays #6, and #4 plays #5, again based on regular season record. The brackets are set up for as a single elimination tournament for the opening rounds until the finals. In years passed, the finals has been a best of 3 series and I’m not sure if that will be the case again this season. The Division 3 State Tournament is set to begin opening round games on June 14th with the finals finishing up June 24 to June 26th. Here is a look at how the brackets shape up for Division 3, courtesy of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League’s webpage:

The Rhode Island Division 3 State Finals will be played at West Warwick’s McCarthy Field:

As teams finish up their 2021 Spring Baseball schedule, the brackets will be filled, game locations set, game times announced, and the 2021 Rhode Island High School Varsity Baseball State Tournaments will commence. As more information becomes available, I will post on this page and my social media pages. You can always follow along on the official website of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League at http://www.rill.org. Good luck to all the players, coaches, schools, families, and fans in their respective Rhode Island Baseball State Tournaments.
