Weekend Update – Fall Classic, Scott Grace, Battle of the Badge, Island Baseball Championship
Happy First Weekend of Fall everyone. I hope you found the sweatshirts and blankets and handwarmers and are ready to head out to see some awesome baseball games this weekend here in Rhode Island. The summer sun and 90° temperatures of June, July, and August are now in the rear view mirror and we can all look forward to those crisp Autumn 48° mornings there on the bleachers of some of Rhode Island’s best baseball fields. The sun is shining brightly this morning out of my window, which is closed shut (it is actually 48° this am) and here is what I have for weekend games, tournaments, and baseball happenings around Rhode Island:
From Rumford Little League’s Facebook page and Sean Thompson last night – “The Scott Grace Tournament started tonight with teams from Rumford, Central, Darlington and Warren batting it out!! Two great back and forth games with one being a bunch of runs scored and the other a pitchers duel!! Looking forward to a great day of baseball tomorrow morning!! OPEN CEREMONY STARTS AT 8:30am at Kimberly Ann Rock, on Linberg Field!!” The tomorrow morning in the post meaning today, Saturday September 24th. Good luck to all the players, coaches, and families and check out Rumford Little League on Facebook for tournament updates and some incredible photos like these:
East Providence Police vs East Providence Fire Department – Battle of the Badges to benefit East Providence Central Little League. Incredible idea and great job by East Providence leaders putting this game together. For more information, contact Allie Hall at alliehall.epcll@gmail.com.

Island Baseball League championship game tonight at Cardines Field, Newport. It’s Storm vs Royals. Game time is scheduled for 6:30. Should be a great game to end the Island Baseball League 2022 season!!!

The NEAAU Fall Classic is happening today and tomorrow on baseball fields like Ryan Park (North Kingstown), Silver Lake (Providence), The Pit (Warwick North), Slater Park (Pawtucket) just to name a few. There are 5 divisions playing (10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U) today and championships wrap up tomorrow. Head over to the website Tourney Machine and type in “AAU Fall Classic” into the search bar. Then you can search for age divisions, find game times and locations, and scores. Good luck to all the players, coaches, and families participating today.

The Autumn Baseball League has a new website, which showcases games, scores, weekend matchups and more. Head over to www.autumnbaseballleague.com to check it out and find a game in your area to watch this weekend.
Good luck to all the players, coaches, families, organizations this weekend at your charity games, tournaments, and championship games. Send me updates and photos so I can share your awesome news with the entire Rhode Island Baseball Community. Now if you will excuse me, I have to go find my favorite Block Island sweatshirt!!!
