And For You, An Easter Basket Filled With Rhode Island Baseball Saturday Stories

Happy Easter to everyone in the Rhode Island Baseball Community. Typically, Easter baskets are filled with chocolate bunnies, bags of candy, peeps, maybe a stuffed animal or toy plane. However, this year’s Rhode Island Baseball Experience basket is filled with amazing stories, shared by yours truly as well as several Rhode Island baseball families from yesterday’s busy calendar of games and events. I know the anticipation of opening the first gift is getting intense so let’s get right to it:

A gift post from Coventry Little League’s Erik Hanley:

“Good afternoon! I’m the president with Coventry Little League – just wanted to share this post with you from our Opening Day Ceremonies this morning. It’s our 50th anniversary chartering with little league and we’re so happy to have been able to honor two of the original board members from 1972 – including our first ever president. They were extremely excited to come back to Paine field, throw out first pitches, and reminisce on their time on the fields here. They’re good friends with Ken Bell, ABC6 sports reporter for over 30 years who was able to attend too. He attended and covered all of the Red Sox World Series from 2004 on, as well as the ‘78 Bucky Dent and ‘03 Aaron Boone games. They were all so excited to be on the field and are looking forward to coming to watch some of our games this season!”

This one is from Avery Fontaine on Instagram. Thank you for including me in your baseball journey Avery, looks like you are a natural Coach!!!

Here is another gift, a no-hit shut out post sent in by ATC Townies Coach Kris Hallene:

“Another solid showing by the 11u squad. Splitting a set of non-league games with the Renegades. Ryan Chaves threw a 76 pitch, complete game, no hit shut out in game two preserving a 2-0 leas throughout the afternoon. Some solid defense behind him and a couple of timely hits contributed to the win.”

The Ocean State Waves made an appearance at Opening Day for South Kingstown’s Anchor Sports. Here are some photo highlights from featuring the Waves Splash.

Here are some little nuggets of joy from around Rhode Island baseball’s social media pages:

Bryant University puts up 25 in huge offensive explosion vs Merrimack!

Have a day Saint Raphael Academy, now Stonehill College standout Taylor Gaspar – 2 HR, 7 RBI!!! Wow!

Johnson and Wales University Baseball with the impressive doubleheader win over Dean College.

URI Baseball with the 8-6 win over University of Massachusetts at Beck Field.

From RI Rays Facebook page – “Rays 12U in Worcester Mass with a special guest player Manny Loud visiting from Florida.

Front Row: Collin, Xavior, Juan, Kenny, Jackson; Back Row: Gregory Jack Seth Logan Manny Jason; Missing Nike and Ryan”

Rays 24 Stikezone 2

Roger Williams University Baseball with the doubleheader win over Western New England! RWU is now 21-3-1 on the season.

Salve Regina University Baseball wins the doubleheader against Suffolk. Final scores 9-2; 14-2!

Rhode Island College wins the doubleheader over Husson. Final scores 6-4; 10-4.

Finally, a gift from yours truly. I attended the Bishop Hendricken vs LaSalle Academy Varsity baseball game yesterday at Pepin Field, Warwick. BHHS and LaSalle rosters are always filled with top Rhode Island baseball talent and yesterday’s game was no exception. It was a sunny, very breezy day at Pepin Field. I watched about 3 innings of the game and sat right behind the home plate back stop in the “LaSalle” section of the bleachers. Here are some photos from yesterday’s game:

I want to wish everyone in the Rhode Island Baseball Community a Happy Easter! I hope you enjoyed your basket of wonderful baseball stories filled with Saturday’s amazing Rhode Island Baseball Experiences.
