The 2021 Green And Gold Baseball Camp Photo Gallery and Recap
The Bishop Hendricken High School Baseball Green and Gold Baseball Camp took place from August 2nd through August 6th this summer. In years past, I have visited the camp to meet with Camp Director Chris Sheehan, who runs me through the daily activities, guest speakers, and player development exercises. Chris and his staff do an excellent job of mixing quality baseball instruction with competitive games along with a ton of fun for the campers. Chris and I were speaking the other day and I asked him to do a recap of the 2021 Green and Gold camp. In addition, Chris forwarded me a gallery of photos to share for this article. Here is more from Chris on the 2021 Green and Gold camp along with some great camp photos:
This was the 7th annual Green and Gold Baseball Camp held at Bishop Hendricken and was our largest group yet. We had over 100 campers. Our staff of instructors included current college players, former professional players, current and former college coaches and current high school coaches.
Each day starts with a thorough warm up to get campers bodies for the day and teach them how to properly prepare themselves to perform. On Monday and Wednesday, this is followed by stations focused on all aspects of baseball, hitting, fielding, baserunning, throwing, etc. Campers rotate through stations in small groups.
On Tuesday and Thursday, instead of stations, we take on field batting practice and work on situational hitting on each of the four fields followed by campers getting time to work at and receive instruction at both their primary and secondary positions.
After our morning work we have lunch followed by a guest speaker. This year’s guest speakers were as follows:
- Monday – Michael King – New York Yankees
- Tuesday – Ryan Klosterman – Head Coach Bryant University
- Wednesday – Panel of 11 current college baseball players
- Thursday – Matt Murphy – Former college and professional player, former RIC Pitching Coach and current URI Director of Baseball Operations.
In the afternoons we play games. There are four fields set up and campers are put onto teams based on age. There are 3 60/90 fields and 1 50/70.
On Friday, we have a full 7 inning game in the morning and then provide a pizza lunch for the campers which is then followed by our skills competitions. Skills competitions include:
- Home Run Derby
- Infield Gold Glove
- Outfield Gold Glove
- Golden Arm
- Road Runner
- Hit King
- Exit Velocity
- Bunting

We wrap the week up with an awards presentation.
Throughout the week, campers receive instruction on essentially every component of baseball.
