Learn More About Your Rhode Island Baseball Umpires

Little League® has announced its umpire lineup for the 2019 Little League® World Series. It was pretty excited to read the name David LaRocque as one of the names chosen. LaRocque, from Warwick, RI will be an umpire in the Senior League Baseball World Series being held in Easley, South Carolina this summer. Congrats to David and his family for this incredible honor. See article below from the official Little League® website.

Little League®’s umpire page quoted it perfectly “Umpires – The third team on the field at every Little League® game.” That goes for AAU, Cal Ripken, Middle School, High School, all the way up to the pros. I am lucky to work with West Bay Umpire Association umpires in District 3 of my local youth baseball league. The umpires are tough but fair and their goal is the safety of the game. Most umpires will take the time to show a young catcher where to position themselves behind the plate. Or, if a pitcher is struggling, they will yell out some advice. They know the game, the rules, and how the game should be played. Most of the umpires I have met are former or current coaches in youth sports, high school, even some of them coached at the collegiate level.
