King Philip Little League – Home to the 2018 11U RI Little League State Champs
This past summer, the 11U Division King Philip Little League from Bristol, RI went on an incredible run. KPLL plays in Rhode Island’s District 2 Little League. They started their winning ways by winning the District 2 title and then continued on to win the RI State 11U title. In winning the State 11U title, King Philip advanced to the Eastern Regional Tournament held in Beverly, MA. KPLL had a fantastic showing at the tournament and finished their season with an impressive 2-2 record in the Eastern Regionals. Coach Matt Andreozzi was kind enough to message me with photos and updates from KPLL games throughout their tournament run.

Located at the intersection of Wood and Perry St in Bristol is Veterans Park. If you need help finding it, just look for huge World War II memorial just outside the main baseball field at that intersection. Veterans Park features two baseball fields – Cavaliere-Francis Field and Roger Pigeon Memorial Field – both Little League® size fields. Each field offers plenty of seating and views on the game action. At Roger Pigeon Field, there is a huge concession stand and picnic area. Also, a batting cage and bullpen area for warmups and hitting practice. Just outside of the left field fence at Cavaliere-Francis field is a huge playground. Overall, the field and grounds were in excellent shape when I visited in early September.
I am a huge fan of history – American, baseball, war heroes, local heroes. This Veterans Memorial Park did a really nice job of honoring service men and woman throughout the park. Memorial plaques were seen throughout the park. American flags hung proudly throughout each field. It was great to read more about these heroes, like SPC Michael Andrade whose plaque read “In Loving Memory…SPC Michael Andrade who served this nation in time of war. May his sacrifice and devotion to duty never be forgotten.” Great tributes indeed.
It was great visiting King Philip Little League‘s Veterans Memorial Park in Bristol. There are two baseball fields, concession stand, picnic area, batting cages, plenty of seating, and an awesome playground for the kids not playing baseball. Tons of military and US war hero plaques, flags, and tributes throughout the park. I really enjoyed visiting Bristol and Veterans Park. Special thanks again to Coach Matt Andreozzi for keeping me updated on all things King Philip Little League this summer.
