NK Teen Musicians To Play Benefit Show At Wickford Harbor Lights
Over the past several months, I have been blessed to host some of North Kingstown’s talented youth musicians in a number of benefit shows. These shows showcase the very talented singers, guitar players, piano players, and musicians that live and go to North Kingstown schools. And, each show has a benefit theme. The first show raised over $200 for North Kingstown Special Olympics. The second and most recent show benefited the Pennies for Patients fundraiser that helps support the Rhode Island Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The shows are all upbeat, feature some amazing musical talents, and are a great way to give back to our community.
On Friday, May 12th Wickford Village will be the scene for what is becoming a huge draw for not only North Kingstown, but all of Rhode Island – Wickford Harbor Lights. And this Wickford Harbor Lights has everyone talking because it is the perfect way to start Mother’s Day Weekend. According to the event’s Facebook page, this event will be “…a night to celebrate the natural beauty of our town. Spend the evening strolling through the stores and down the beautiful streets of Wickford. Bring the family, enjoy the serene ambiance, live music and good food! A great way to start the Mother’s Day weekend!!” Visit the official page of the event – Wickford Harbor Lights – Mother’s Day Special by clicking the highlighted link.

I was so thrilled to be asked by coordinator Joellen Wunner to help out with the music for the event. I am honored to promote the talented musicians and artists from North Kingstown and to give them a spotlight to show their friends, family, and the Town of North Kingstown just how special they are. We are planning on setting up at 6:30 pm at the Anchor in the parking lot of Wickford Village. There will be other vendors in the parking lot as well and we hope to provide great music and background for this event. If you are a local student who loves music and wants to play a song – solo or with a group – simply come by Friday, May 12th to Wickford Village. We will have a sign up sheet and will call up musicians and artists one by one to perform.

And, I am happy to announce that the benefit theme continues with all proceeds and donations from our show going to Let’s Read RI. Let’s Read RI’s is “a local RI nonprofit organization that encourages students K-5 to read, by supporting them in and out of school.” My sons, when they attended Fishing Cove Elementary, participated in the Let’s Read program. Students were encouraged to read books and record them with their teachers. Each month, students were rewarded with a bookmark, which they could bring to local pizza place Pier Pizza Company for a free slice of pizza. The program has been a huge success here in North Kingstown and I’m proud to be able to give back to this great community program. Once again, the talented musicians of North Kingstown will have an opportunity to give back to one of the best community members we have – Jordan Becker and the Let’s Read RI Program.

Events like the Wickford Harbor Lights bring community members from all over New England to our beloved Wickford. The merchants and vendors in Wickford Village will welcome you into their stores, their cafes, their businesses with open arms and big smiles. Shop, have a bite or two to eat, enjoy one of the best village experiences that New England has to offer. Come to the Wickford Harbor Lights Mother’s Day Special this Friday, May 12th. And come visit us at the Anchor in the parking lot overlooking the beautiful Harbor Lights for some great music and a lot of fun.

The RIBBE is The Rhode Island Baseball Experience. It is promoting the game of baseball here in the great state of Rhode Island for the entire baseball world to see. The RIBBE is positive stories, photos, videos, and responsible social media posts. The RIBBE is an information resource for families looking for an AAU team or a summer camp or a great place to buy a first baseman’s mitt. The RIBBE is a network of coaches, tournament directors, parents, leagues, and baseball junkies whose passion of the game of baseball is unquestioned.
