Rhode Island has some of the best hiking trails for the average exerciser. Old railroad lines and jeep trails make for mostly flat courses, with some degree of incline and decline to add some intensity here and there. Goddard Park in East Greenwich, Arcadia in Exeter, and Rome Point in North Kingstown are just some of the trails my family and my dogs enjoy – anytime of year. When hiking on this and other trails, it is advised to wear appropriate footwear to help traverse some of the less than stable surfaces. Surfaces such as exposed rock, loose gravel, and other challenges such as mud, sand, and heavily wooded areas. For years, I have been a huge fan of Merrell shoes for all of my hiking adventures.
