The Strike 3 Foundation Wiffleball Tournament To Raise Funds for Childhood Cancer Research

The Strike 3 Foundation is hosting a Wiffle Ball competition in Vermont.

I was reading up on my surging Boston Red Sox this weekend on one of the team’s media sites and found out about a Wiffle Ball competition in Vermont.  It is being hosted by the Strike 3 Foundation, which was founded by Boston Red Sox pitcher Craig Breslow in 2008.  Breslow is a native of Trumbull, CT and a graduate of Yale University.  He has been a professional baseball player for 5 Major League teams, including the Boston Red Sox since 2005.  He has been an vital part of the Red Sox bullpen and has a World Series ring from the 2013 season.  I reached out to the staff at the Strike 3 Foundation and received this personal quote from Craig Breslow this morning: ““We are incredibly excited to host our first Wiffle Ball tournament at Little Fenway Park.  As an organization, we are constantly striving to offer unique and novel fundraising opportunities to not only engage but also entertain our donor base.  Given the passion of New England for its sports teams, we are confident we’ve hit a home run.  Most importantly, we will raise meaningful dollars in the fight against childhood cancers.”

The mission statement on the Strike 3 Foundation’s website reads “The Strike 3 Foundation heightens awareness, mobilizes support, and raises funding for childhood cancer research.”  On Saturday, October 10th, The Strike 3 Foundation will be hosting a competition of Wiffle Ball games.  The games are played at Little Fenway, Little Wrigley and Little Field of Dreams in Essex Junction, Vermont where there are scaled-down versions of the famous ballparks. Scott Pomponio, Director of Financial Oversight for the Strike 3 Foundation, send me some additional information about the Wiffle Ball Competition.  He mentioned that there will be about 10 – 12 total teams.  Scott mentioned that the minimum team size is 9 players (coed, no age restrictions) and they anticipate play to begin around 9 am at Little Fenway in Essex Junction, VT. There are no maximum team sizes.  Availability is limited and Scott would like anyone interested in registering for the event to visit the event’s registration page at www.strike3foundation.org/events/2015-wiffle-ball.
