Sacrifice Present #6 – Name The Two Rhode Island Teams Who Play In The Pell Bridge Series

First things first, Sacrifice Present #5, courtesy of Axis Bats, goes to Meghan Robinson. Meghan, along with close to 100 responders (huge response to this one!) correctly identified the Pawtucket Slaterettes as the Rhode Island Baseball organization in question. Congrats Meghan. And now let’s giveaway another Sacrifice Present to one lucky person who can correctly identify the two teams who play every summer in the Pell Bridge Series…

  • Each team plays in the very competitive, very entertaining, and nationally recognized New England Collegiate Baseball League
  • One team calls Old Mountain Field, Wakefield its home
  • One team calls Cardines Filed, Newport its home
  • Every summer, some of the top collegiate baseball players travel from all over the USA to play for one of these two Rhode Island teams
  • Every summer, local Rhode Island families open up their homes and host a player, sometimes several players in the amazing host family program.
  • Every summer, a Pell Bridge Series game is packed from dugouts to foul poles with baseball fans of all ages
  • Every summer, players on each roster in the Pell Bridge Series connect with their local communities through charity work like visiting elementary schools and hosting baseball camps and just taking the time to sign an autograph for a baseball fan
  • Every summer, or even shortly after their season begins, players (past and present) are drafted or signed to play professional baseball. Some, like the photo above, make it all the way into Major League Baseball. So, every summer the Pell Bridge Series teams feature players who just might be suiting up for the Reds, Phillies, Pirates, Angels, Rays, or Sox in the very near future.
  • Every summer for the past 5 years, I have had the great opportunity to meet with staff, players, coaches, organizational leaders and summer volunteers and learn more about each amazing organization. These teams work year round, not just in the summer, to put a competitive team on the field and a community friendly experience that thousands of Rhode Islanders enjoy every summer.
  • Without naming the two teams outright, please support these two Pell Bridge Series teams – go to the games with your youth baseball league, bring your grandparents, reach out to their staff to find out about summer camps or charity events you would like them to attend, host a player next summer, get involved at your level in these two amazing Rhode Island Baseball organizations!!!
