Umpire Training Course Offered For Rhode Island High School Students This September

I received an email this week from Strike Zone Director Dan LaCorbiniere regarding an upcoming umpire course. Dan and I connected earlier this year when Strike Zone was opening up and this course continues the Strike Zone philosophy of integrating sports and education. Here is more from Dan on the Umpire Training Course being offered at Strike Zone starting this September:

This is the second session of this exciting course being offered through ACN  and sponsored by RIDE.  The course begins September 12th. Enrollment is currently open. This is a six week hybrid course with online modules completed once a week with a Wednesday 6p-7p mechanics practice and demonstration for kids to learn how to become a baseball or softball umpire.   The class will cover the 12 mechanics that are the same in both games.  It’s an enrichment course where they will not get HS credits BUT will be very qualified to umpire baseball or softball games upon completion. Please let me know what you think and if you have anyone who may be interested.

You can register for the Umpire Training Course at http://www.enrollri.org/acn. Or for more information, you can email Dan at Dan@ywcari.org. It looks like a great course for a much needed baseball position that is not named Pitcher or Catcher or Centerfielder – Umpire! Good luck to all those looking to complete the course and become a field or home umpire.

The RIBBE is The Rhode Island Baseball Experience. It is promoting the game of baseball here in the great state of Rhode Island for the entire baseball world to see. The RIBBE is positive stories, photos, videos, and responsible social media posts. The RIBBE is an information resource for families looking for an AAU team or a summer camp or a great place to buy a first baseman’s mitt. The RIBBE is a network of coaches, tournament directors, parents, leagues, and baseball junkies whose passion of the game of baseball is unquestioned. I believe that providing expert analysis, information and directions to ballfields, and coaching advice from some of the top RI baseball minds will help promote the game of baseball here in RI to a whole new level.
