Salve Regina University’s Dynamic Duo Of Lefty Pitchers Now Heading to Professional Baseball
Newport, Rhode Island’s Salve Regina University Baseball team has been an incredible local baseball story for me for several years running. Salve Baseball consistently recruits local Rhode Island baseball talent, which is a main draw for me as a Rhode Island baseball fan and writer. The Salve baseball club is always in the discussion as one of the top Division 3 baseball programs, not only here in Rhode Island, but in New England and on the national scene. Reynolds Field, Salve’s home baseball field, has the backdrop of Newport’s past and present historical landmarks as its outfield and backstop perimeters. And it has one of the best baseball resources Rhode Island has to offer in Head Coach Eric Cirella. And now Salve Regina University Baseball can stake claim on another incredible accomplishment.
Two Salve Regina Baseball players will now exit Newport and head into Professional Baseball. Both left handed flamethrowers, both absolutely dominant every game I attended at Reynolds Field or Old Mountain Field. Both with a ton of talent and the sky is limit for both!!! Their names – Patrick Maybach and Dominic Perachi. Maybach signed with the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer Baseball League. Perachi was drafted in the 11th round of the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Left handed Pitcher Patrick Maybach is from North Kingstown, my hometown. Maybach leaves Salve Regina a legend, crushing just about every pitching record every created. I got a chance to see Patrick pitch the last 2 Springs (I didn’t get a chance to see him pitch in the shortened 2020 season) and each game was incredible. Special bonus was running into his Dad Robert, who I have known for years as the player agent for Wickford, then North Kingstown/Wickford Little League. Patrick Maybach will make his professional baseball debut, wearing #46, this Friday night as a Billings Mustang vs the Great Falls Voyagers. Perachi pitched lights out baseball every time I saw him at Reynolds Field and the one time at Old Mountain Field this summer for Waves vs Gulls (New England Collegiate Baseball League). Scouts were aplenty in the stands, at the backstop, pointing radar guns, taking notes, and watching a prospect perform at a level worthy of a professional baseball contract. That Waves and Gulls game, I ran into Coach Cirella who was absolutely glowing about Maybach and Perachi and the entire Salve Baseball Program. Perachi was amazing to watch and I expect great things from him in the Pirates Organization.
