Rhode Island’s Gian Martellini Named New York Boulders Rookie of the Year
The New York Boulders is one of sixteen teams that make up the Frontier League, an independent professional baseball league. Gian Martellini (Johnston and Bishop Hendricken High School) is a catcher with the New York Boulders. I saw an Instagram post a few days back from Hendricken Baseball touting that Martellini had been playing professionally and was doing phenomenal this summer. So, I reached out to the Frontier League to learn more.

According to Ken Kostik, Director of Media Relations for the New York Boulders, “Gian was tabbed as the New York Boulders‘ Rookie of the Year. They are finishing out the regular season this weekend.” Martellini, who I had the honor of interviewing a few years back when he was playing for Wareham in the Cape Cod League, had a phenomenal year in his first year of professional baseball with the Boulders, batting .280 and playing in 48 games with the Boulders. Here is a photo from the BHHS Instagram post:

Great accomplishment for this Rhode Island native!!! And continued success to Gian in his professional career!
