The RIBBE Training Days – Week 1 of the Run To Home Base Workouts

It has been one week since I registered for the Red Sox Run To Home Base Event. Here is a short video about the event from their event page:

I picked up a great pair of Nike running shoes this week from Dick’s Sporting Goods in Warwick. This week, I ran 3 times – twice on grass and once on the track at my local Wilson Park, North Kingstown. Mentally, I am already there, especially with all the support from my kids, my wife, my family, and the baseball community I love. Physically, I am slowly but surely working my way through some stiffness, some ankle soreness, and figuring out my breathing. I’m doing walk/jog repetitions for about 1.5 to 2 miles per workout. I have to be patient with my body and where my physical fitness is at right now.

As for my fundraising efforts, I had a fantastic first week of support. My kids (through my Mom), my sister, my assistant North Kingstown Wickford Little League coaches and friends Dave Andrews and Norm Bellemore, and one of my freelance writing clients, John Santos of Keller Williams Realty, all donated. So far, I have raised 30% of my $1,500 goal. Pretty awesome week and a very positive start to this very emotional Rhode Island Baseball Experience.

The RIBBE would like to acknowledge the memorial at Warwick’s “Libary” Field. The plaque is located in the back parking lot behind the field and is adorned by a flower garden and flags. If you are playing on this field this week, please take a moment to read the plaque and respect those who served our country.

If you would like to donate to my fundraising page and help the efforts of the Run to Home Base organization, thank you in advance. Here is the link to my fundraising page – The RIBBE Runs to Home Base.
