Providence’s Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel Welcomes Lettuce Tonight

One of the great features in my Tahoe is my Sirius XM satellite radio.  I enjoy a wide range of music, so satellite radio is great on days I want blues or jazz or comedy or jam bands.  I can listen to the Grateful Dead channel or Pearl Jam Radio or decades specific stations like the 60’s, 70’s, or 80’s.  One of my favorite channels is Sirius XM Channel 29, Jam On.  Jam On features great jam band heroes of mine such as Gov’t Mule, Widespread Panic, and Dave Matthews Band.  It also features lesser known acts like Tauk, The Hip Abduction, The Floozies, and one of my favorites, Lettuce.

I first heard Lettuce on Jam On a few years ago.  They are no strangers to the music industry.  In fact, this Boston based band originated at the famed Berkelee School of Music in the early 1990’s. Members of the band were attending Berkelee and playing gigs in and around Boston.  Jam On has played a wide range of their songs over their roughly 15 year recording history.  Lettuce is listed as a jazz, funk band and has a wonderful blend of horns, percussion, guitars, bass, and some vocals.  A good portion of their music catalog that I have heard is just instrumental, which is just fine for me. They sound incredible, the beats are lively, and the horn section is just ridiculous.  If their studio albums are any indication of their talent, then their live shows must be incredible.

Lettuce is taking the stage tonight at the famous Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel.  The show starts around 9pm with doors opening at 8pm.  I grabbed tickets the other day and cannot wait to hear those horns, drums, and guitars rock out tonight at Lupo’s.
