In July, The North Kingstown Blog was thrilled to meet and get to know the MAE Organization for the Homeless.
I learned about their “MAE’s Basics Drive” which is asking for household items such as socks, bus passes, and toiletries to help families as they enter the school year. “MAE’s Basics Drive” is still going on and will continue to late September. Please check out this short video and give what you can:
The other event we learned about will be happening in late September. Here is more information from MAE founder Martinha Javid:

Martinha was kind enough to send me some photos of how the MAE Organization is making a difference in raising the spirits of her program’s participants.

Mae Organization provides holistic healing programs to the underprivileged and homeless individuals of RI. Currently, we cook hot meals and deliver them on the streets to 300 or more individuals. We collect and deliver clothing, tents, bikes, etc to children, parents, anyone in need. We operate a multifaceted holistic healing set of modalities which are already widely used in various hospital settings. These modalities include:
Agricultural therapeutic engagemet
Farm animal therapy
Equestrian therapy sessions
Help with finding Housing/ Rental Housing Pods
We will be working on a very special furniture program called “Second Chances.” This program is designed to resonate with our homeless because we believe that everyone deserves a second chance. We will take recyclable furniture, recondition them and paint them into artistic pieces to be purchased for profit and/or used by our homeless guests in their new homes. This will provide quality engagement for our program participants during the day in a working environment, thus preparing them for a job and ultimately to help them earn income.
IN THE COMMUNITY LOCAL EVENTS
The RIBBE is The Rhode Island Baseball Experience. It is promoting the game of baseball here in the great state of Rhode Island for the entire baseball world to see. The RIBBE is positive stories, photos, videos, and responsible social media posts. The RIBBE is an information resource for families looking for an AAU team or a summer camp or a great place to buy a first baseman’s mitt. The RIBBE is a network of coaches, tournament directors, parents, leagues, and baseball junkies whose passion of the game of baseball is unquestioned. I believe that providing expert analysis, information and directions to ballfields, and coaching advice from some of the top RI baseball minds will help promote the game of baseball here in RI to a whole new level.
