The NK Blog welcomes Residence Inn by Marriott Providence Coventry to the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce

The North Kingstown Blog is pleased to introduce fellow North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce member Residence Inn by Marriott – Providence/Coventry.

Southern RI is a very popular destination for tourists, travelling sports teams, and families.  This is especially true in the summer months which has festivals, soccer tournaments, and tons of beaches to offer out of towners.  Lodging solutions for a family for a long weekend or an extended stay is often a huge challenge for travelers, especially those with pets.  Finding a home away from home for a few days can mean the difference between a smooth trip and a potential nightmare trip.

I met Director of Sales Cal Kitson, who was kind enough to give me some information about her facility as well as show me some fantastic amenities that really separate The Residence Inn from other lodging options here locally.   You can learn more about specifics on their official website – www.marriott.com/pvdpc.  Here are some of the great features I noticed at my visit.

Residence Inn by Marriott Tennis Court

First, when I walked in the hotel, a hotel guest was walking out with his two dogs.  So, I asked Cal about the hotel being pet-friendly.  “Yes, we have special arrangements for pet owners.  We know your pet is a special part of your family so we are happy to be a pet-friendly solution for guests.”  The lobby had a very welcoming aura, with a fireplace, friendly staff, and comfortable decor.  Cal and I sat in the dining area which had plenty of seating and a view of the kitchen, which was currently serving their complimentary breakfast.   She mentioned that the Residence Inn was designed to be an extended stay solution, with suites with full kitchens and comfortable living rooms.  All of your daily necessity type equipment – pots, pans, glasses, utensils – are provided to make your stay more comfortable.  Plus, it is conveniently located near major shopping centers and grocery stores so you can stock up on household items while you are staying at the Residence Inn.  Sort of like having your home on the road, which puts families at ease on the road, especially if their travel plans include long days at events, soccer tournaments, or family outings.

Cal took me on a tour of the fitness center, which had a nice assortment of cardio and strength training equipment, as well as the indoor pool and spa area. The outer sports court was something I had never seen at a hotel.  It was a rubberized court with a basketball hoop on one end.  You could also stretch a net across the width of the court and use it to play tennis or badminton or perhaps Pickleball.  There is an outdoor grill which can be used as well.  Given that a lot of families with kids stay at the Residence Inn, I thought this was an excellent idea and I’m sure that the fitness center, pool area, and outdoor court area get a ton of use.  I got a strong sense that the Residence Inn and their staff really care about making their guests’ stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
